“Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you,” said Jesus to a man he had miraculously healed.
In Mark 5, Jesus travels by boat to visit a man in the Decapolis who was abandoned by society. He was demon possessed, could not be chained (for his or the community’s sake), and roamed among the tombs. Then suddenly, Jesus shows up. In one command the spirits who had been dwelling in this man were sent into pigs and the man was restored! His life was back and when the people from his community found him they were amazed that he was clothed and sane.
One of my favorite parts of Bible studies and community are the times when women share their stories. Sometimes it’s dramatic like the man from Mark 5, and other times I’m blown away at honorable faithfulness, steadfastness, and a life of righteousness. From both camps and those in the middle, what encourages me is how personal and intimate our God is. Jesus knew how that man suffered and he went to him.
The tagline of the T+S podcast is “our conversations start at the intersection of the faith we believe in and the reality in which we live” and here is the first ever group for us to to begin living that out in community.
To be clear, this is not replacing your local small group or church’s Bible study. Please please please be connected to your local church. This is another resource for you and me. No one has mastered it all, but we can grow and learn together.
On Tuesday evening, March 18, Anchored will launch. It will be a virtual group meeting and we will only get together once a month. You are invited. If you’ve done a hundred Bible studies or have never even done one, you’re welcome to join.
To get a link, you’ll need to do 3 things:
- Get a copy of the Deeply Rooted Journal on Amazon
- Create an online account and request to join the group Deeply Rooted.
- In the request section, include your journal confirmation code and you’ll be in!

We’ll be using the Deeply Rooted Journal as our workbook. This is not a life time commitment so come as you can. Bring a friend who you know would enjoy something like this too.
One of my favorite verses comes from Hebrews 6:19 “We have this hope as an anchor for our soul firm and secure.” This is the treasure of our relationship with Jesus. We are firm and secure in his hands. We are held tightly by him. As a community, we get to come alongside each other and carry one another as we are resting in the unmovable hope in Jesus.

I hope that you’ll join us!
