Description
The Salt + Light Project launched Serve Summer and one of the activities was for a family to brainstorm how to meet the needs around them.
It’s a very simple bullet list sheet that can hang on your fridge or in a spot where you can remind each other of ways to serve. After brainstorming as a family, go ahead and list each idea down! Also, this is a good way to ask your children who they wish to serve. Help them take initiative to care for those in their community.
Some ideas of serving can include:
- Making a meal for someone in your church + kids make a treat
- Inviting a friend over for coffee (have your kids help make the snack!)
- Make cards for kids with cancer
- Serve a meal with a homeless shelter
- Pack shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child
- Do a park clean up
- Host a fundraiser for a foster care closet (invite the director to come!)
There are many ways to get our families involved in our community. The fun part? Checking off that box!
How many ways can your family serve? Share your experiences!
